Sulove

Sulove is an avid cricket player with NewVIc’s Cricket Academy Team. He’s played at the AoC National Finals last year and will be representing the college again at Nottingham in April 2022. He is currently in his second year of studying A Levels in Biology, Business Studies, Mathematics and Psychology and is also on the Honours Programme. He was a former Halley Academy School student. We caught up with Sulove to find out a little more about his journey so far.

What made you choose NewVIc?

I chose to come and study at NewVIc as I had heard all about the college’s Cricket Academy and how successful it is. It was a no brainer for the cricketer in me to select NewVIc.

How have you found sixth form so far?

I have found college great so far. I have found the sixth form very enjoyable and inclusive in my first year and have no doubt that it will only get better throughout my second year.

I am part of NewVIc’s very competent Cricket Academy. We made it to the Association of Colleges national finals last year and also won other major trophies along the way including the London Regional cup 2021 in cricket.

I am also part of the Honours Programme that supports and prepare students with applications to Russell Group and world-class universities.

Is there anything you wish you had known that you do now?

I live in South London. However, it was only after coming to study here that I finally realised how capable and strong NewVIc is, with highly qualified teaching experts, fantastic Sports Academy, excellent student support and enrichment and a big choice of courses for students.

Who is the most inspiring person you have ever met?

Not to sound too big headed. The most inspiring person I know is my own self. The reason being whenever someone tells me I can’t do something, I double my efforts ,not to prove anything to them but myself that I am good enough and that I can do anything if I put my mind to it.

What is your advice for students considering NewVIc?

If you’re a cricketer like me, NewVIc is the one for you. Do your research. Look at the subjects that you enjoy studying the most. Ask for suggestions from former students because experience is a great teacher.

So what’s next?

Just going with the flow at the moment. I believe in taking care of the present and the future takes care of itself.
